I’ve had sharks on the brain lately not only because they are my son’s second-most fascination next to superheros, but because Discovery Channel’s Shark Week starts on August 10th at 9/8c! Hooray!Since I like any and every excuse to get my party on, I knew I needed to come up with some fun ideas to help celebrate the exciting upcoming event with my shark-obsessed kiddos. I can’t get over how cute and simple these shark food, decor and activities are!
First and foremost, a shark party must involve cake and ice cream…with sharks of course! So I headed to my local Cold Stone Creamery with my little taste testers to determine if their Great Blue Cupcakes could take center stage at such a festive occasion.
Boy, were we in for an extra special treat after passing that cute red door! There was the usual frozen granite station, and the ice cream that’s made fresh daily in-store with high quality ingredients, but taken to a new level of awesomeness! Trust me…there’s no other word for what we experienced.
How adorable are these Great Blue Cupcakes? I mean, I would have snatched them for the party based on looks alone, but then we had the privilege of sinking our teeth into them (pardon my pun, hehe), and there was no doubt.
We’re talking cake and ice cream, chocolate heaven right here! All in one hand-held, graham-cracker-topped delight!
The baby enjoyed the blue frosting. Maybe a little too much, if that’s possible. She started out relatively clean, and came home needing a bath. 🙂
My daughter’s favorite part was the gummy shark topper, which she took care of right off the bat. Then she thoroughly enjoyed the remainder of the tasty confection.
As for my son…he had to first devour the sensational chocolate cup, then lick the decadent icing on top before making his way to the yellow cake and blue ice cream layered treasures within. The little guy knows how to eat his sweets. He may take after his mother that way. 🙂
We grabbed plenty of napkins, but the kids didn’t need them because these things are finger-licking good!
Wowza! My husband and I were literally dumbfounded by this delicious frosted, chocolate-shelled cake and ice cream concoction. We ate in blissful silence because there were just no words for how good it was, nor did we want to waste time on trivial conversation when we were in such a happy place with our delightful Great Blue Cupcake. Can you blame us? I mean, look at it.
Combine them with the other fantastic shark party ideas showcased in the collage above, and you’ve got a perfect celebration to usher in Shark Week on the Discovery Channel!
The cupcakes are available in-store at Cold Stone you can order Great Blue Cupcakes Online at ColdStoneCakes.com until August 17th. Be sure to pick some up to enjoy while tuning in to the Discovery Channel or to serve at your Shark Week Viewing Party! Trust me…they’ll be the talk of the bash!
