Send kids to school with some knee-slapping knock knock jokes and fun-shaped peanut butter and jam sandwiches!
My kids will start school in just a few short weeks, so I’m gearing up for the return of crazy mornings and evenings. I’m going to savor every last moment of summer while I can! I always hate to see the “lazy days” go, but the prospects of a new school year are exciting as well.
My kids always request lunch from home, so that means lots of PB&J sandwiches! I make them in bulk and that will certainly not change as three of my kids enter school this time around.
I like to mix things up a bit by using cute cookie cutters to make fun sandwich shapes. And then occasionally I’ll throw in some jokes to make my kiddos laugh at the lunch table.
We couldn’t survive the school year without Jif® Creamy Peanut Butter and Smucker’s® Strawberry Jam! There’s nothing like a good ‘ol PB&J to help “power their day” and keep kids full and focused on their work. We like to stock up on these lunch time staples at Walmart while back to school shopping.
I can’t believe that I’ll have a fifth grader, a second grader and a preschooler starting this month! Where does the time go? My kids always get anxious to see old friends and meet new friends. I admit that they are usually a little nervous about a brand new teacher and how things will go in the classroom, but they always quickly adapt.
We love how smooth and yummy Jif® Peanut Butter is and Smucker’s® Strawberry Jam is my kids’ absolute favorite! I just made the sandwich, pressed a cookie cutter into the center, then remove the excess around the edges. It’s such a simple way to make lunch time fun! I know my kids really appreciate thoughtful little gestures like this.
Plus, my kiddos never seem to eat the bread crusts, so this is a clever way to get rid of those!
My mom used to make me a peanut butter and jelly sandwich every day before sending me out the door to catch the big yellow bus and now I get to continue the tradition with my own kids. It’s simply the best!
I’ll never forget how my grade school friends and I used to scarf down our lunch so we could hit the playground and have first dibs on the swings or access to the best field for a game of kick ball.
I also have fond memories of playing hop scotch on the asphalt and swinging from the monkey bars. Those young school days hold a special place in my heart!
I love being the first to open the door as my kids run in, backpacks and all, and hearing them relate similar wonderful stories about the day’s events.
My kids really get a kick out of silly jokes. They’re always trying to make each other and their parents laugh with their antics. 🙂 So I put together some knock knock jokes for them to enjoy while eating at school. Simply print, cut out each individual joke and place in their lunch box. They’re sure to giggle!

These will be a fun surprise to add with the cute peanut butter and jam sandwiches! I can’t wait to slip some jokes into my kids’ brand new lunch boxes!
When do your kids head back to school? What are their must-haves in their lunch box? I’d love to hear in the comments section!
